Center for the Arts in Jackson, WY is seeking proposals from individual artists or small artist teams for The Center Courtyard exhibition space. The Courtyard is a 30 ft by 28 ft outdoor space within this arts facility with glass walls on three sides. There are multiple views of this unique space through the conference room, the Theater Gallery hallway, the Glenwood street entrance and an aerial view from the green space above The Center’s ground level. The Courtyard acts as the heart of this building that houses 18 arts nonprofit administrative offices, 5 dance studios, art studios, galleries, a blackbox theater and a state of the art 500-seat theater. This is a high visibility, high traffic exhibition space, with more than 100,000 audience members attending events in and around the campus every year.

The Center Courtyard hosts different installations through the year. This call is open to artists who have more than 5 years of professional experience creating site-specific art installations. Proposals must be made specific to The Courtyard space and must be able to withstand extreme heat, wind, cold, snow and rain. Power is accessible though limited. Scheduling and budgets for these installations vary. Proposals should be accompanied by an estimated budget ranging from $1000 to $15,000. Highly impactive work paired with lower budgets are the most ideal. Scheduling and budgets for each installation will vary and will be set when working with Center’s Creative Initiatives Coordinator one-on-one.

Criteria for evaluation of proposals are as follows:

·       Impact of the artwork on an aesthetic level.

·       Appropriateness of the scale of the artwork.

·       Relationship of the work to the site and The Center's greater community, especially how it serves to activate or enhance public space.

·       Relevance of the piece to both The Center and our larger community, including Jackson's values, culture, and people. Supporting local artistic community.

·       Suitability of the work for display at The Center.

·       Impact of displaying work at The Center, ie. installation and de-installation plan for the proposed work must be considered.   www.jhcenterforthearts.org
